In a .hack inspired story I was thinking of, it was about an MMORPG that ran in a combination of various online games I’ve played and The World. The details, I am a bit hazy on since it’s been a while. The world is basically defunct now, so…
Anyway, I remember the characters significantly.
There was the boss administrator, her name was Cronus. In the end it turns out she was evil, psychotically obsessed with seizing control of the game and something I dunno. She was bad though. She was a paladin-type, wielding a spear but casting magic as well. She had red hair, that’s all I remember.
Then there were her top two admins, who got caught up in her trickery. Helios, a warrior tank type character, she had dark skin and dark hair, red eyes, with golden armor with sharp designs and elaborate patterns, she was the rule-enforcer and had a good idea about hacker and player killer hot spots. And Selene, a mage type who was basically the programmer, he had short white hair with silver eyes, and silver robes. He carried a tome around, and knew a lot of the “lore” of the game and its history.
The three’s character builds were obviously impossible for ordinary players but…
Then we had the hackers, who turned out to be the good guys. The major hackers. Noting the theme of the administrators’ names, the regular players were the ones to name these guys.
There was Gaia, who was actually a puppet, a ghost, an NPC. He had brown hair and tan skin, stark green eyes, but was always dressed like a real world person - t-shirts, sweaters, jeans, casual outfits like that. If that wasn’t obvious enough, he had an impossible character type - All. He could cast many spells and use various weapons. Other impossible abilities included being able to change the area they were in, phasing between servers, landsharking, multiple summons, controlling monsters, and etc. He was extremely chatty and loved to gossip, but often told riddles and spoke vaguely. He often took the form of a brown tabby cat the size of a cougar.
Then there was the real master - Uranus. She had no colour in her eyes, and took on many forms actually. But her true form was that of a mage of sorts. Her outfit was shimmery blues - a hood with a long cape, and armor underneath, except she wielded a staff that often changed forms. She mainly used magic despite her ranger like appearance. Her spells were either totally invented spells or spells that had been long deleted from the program, and their themes centered around rainbows, stars, gravity, time, the deadly sins, and tarot cards. She had braided brown hair and pale, pale skin. She controlled Gaia and spoke very little. She had the ability to delete characters, control all NPCs, rebirth deleted or corrupted data, along with Gaia’s abilities. She could access the very core data of the game. It turns out she was also a former programmer of the game, in fact the kid with the idea of the game, but she copied data of her consciousness into the game when she was diagnosed with cancer. Basically, Uranus is an immortal data clone of her, whereas Gaia is a copy she created of her mentor from the best memories she could muster. While she is the exact result of what her real self would be were she alive, Gaia went off to make his own personality with what he was given.
